Bury the Tape and Move On

Image
Bury the Tape and Move On             Oh, where do I start…             The Packers gave a glimmer of hope at the end of the ball game, but the Detroit Lions came into Lambeau field and delivered an absolute whomping.             Credit to the Lions who understand football and know that Joe Barry will not make any adjustments whatsoever to stop the run. The defensive formation is a joke, what is the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing repeatedly expecting a different result. That is the definition of the Joe Barry era in Green Bay.             Although the offensive line was banged up, the performance was abysmal. The passing protection and the run blocking weren’t effective at all. Jordan Love in the pocket looked extremely bad, not having good protection is one thing, but it’s 50/50 when Love is throwing the ball. He’ll have some throws that will wow you and then there are throws that make you ask, how the hell do you miss that? I still believe in Love, and he is sti

Final Thoughts: Packers vs. Lions

Image
Final Thoughts: Packers vs. Lions                This morning the final injury report came out before tonight’s game in Green Bay featuring the Packers and the Detroit Lions.             Per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, players that are ruled out for the game tonight include Packers David Bakhtiari, De’Vondre Campbell, and Elgton Jenkins. Christian Watson and Aaron Jones are both expected to play, while cornerback Jaire Alexander is listed as questionable, but is leaning more towards not playing tonight. Tackle Zach Tom and defensive back Carrington Valentine are also listed as questionable.             The Lions are expected to have running back David Montgomery and starting tackle Taylor Decker available tonight. They will however be missing offensive guard Halapoulivaati Vaitai and tackle Matt Nelson. Questionable players include defensive back Emmanuel Moseley, free safety Kirby Joseph, and guard Jonah Jackson.             With the injuries to the Detroit offensive line, t

Packers vs. Lions Primetime Preview

Image
Packers vs. Lions Primetime Preview The Packers take on the Lions in a matchup that will set the tone early in the NFC North standings. The Packers and Lions both share an identical record of 2-1 currently in the north.             There is a ton of speculation surrounding this game specifically in Green Bay. The Packers played the Saints on Sunday without multiple starters on offense and defensive all-pro Jaire Alexander.             Yesterday in a locker-room interview, Romeo Doubs may have accidentally leaked the status of Aaron Jones by saying, “We’ll have 33 back.” Christian Watson also stated, “That’s the plan” in regard to him possibly playing in his season debut on Thursday. Having both of these players in the mix on offense would be exciting as all weapons would be available for the first time this season.             However, the offensive line is currently banged up. David Bakhtiari’s status is unknown at the time, Elgton Jenkins is expected to miss a few weeks, and

Packers Fight Through Three Quarters of Adversity in Comeback Win vs the Saints

Image
Packers Fight Through Three Quarters of Adversity in Comeback Win vs the Saints                The Packers had a miraculous comeback Sunday against the Saints after not scoring any points through the first three quarters.                The Packers ended the third quarter driving all the way down the field but failing to score any points as time expired in the third quarter. The Packers offense had finally stayed on the field long enough to give the defensive unit some rest.               That rest was key as the Packers kicked a field goal to start the fourth quarter and the defense marched out on the field to get a stop on the Saints offense who was without Derek Carr who left midway through the game. That defensive stop led to the first touchdown drive of the quarter for the Packers with Jordan Love leading the offense down the field and running it in on his own to get the score. That score followed with a two-point conversion to close the gap 17-11 in favor of the Saints.

Packers Rapid Halftime Review

Image
Packers Rapid Halftime Review             Packers Halftime Update: We might be bad…             The Packers trail 17-0 after two quarters. The Packers made way too many mistakes in the first half. Missed blocks, penalties, and bad throws have killed every offensive drive they’ve had. Once again there is no sign of complimentary football for the Green Bay Packers. The loss of key offensive starters has hurt the Packers early in terms of offensive production as well. With no Aaron Jones, Christian Watson, David Bakhtiari, and Elgton Jenkins, this team is playing with a lot of young inexperienced guys on the field. In the second half, the Packers need to clean up their play offensively. Decision making is going to determine what the outcome is of this game. Matt Lafleur’s game plan going into the second half needs to include a lot more check-downs for Jordan Love and trying to create long sustained drives. The defense has held up with being on the field most of the game, but h

Packers Injuries Headed into the Weekend

Image
Packers Injuries Headed into the Weekend                 The Friday injury report heading into the Packers home opener against the New Orleans Saints.             A great site to see today at practice was Aaron Jones and Christian Watson on the field with the team but only as limited participants. Jones also hit the field Thursday as a limited participant, Watson did not. With Jones having two straight practices under his belt consecutively to end the week, Jones' availability on Sunday isn’t a given but far more likely than last week.             Christian Watson was quoted this week saying, "I'm fighting just as much of a mental battle as I am physical battle... I want to play football, I don't want to watch football." A little bit of a red flag from Watson saying he doesn’t want to watch football, but we’ll let it slide this time. But on a real note, I hope to see Watson on the field Sunday. He’s been battling this injury since the season started and he’s too

Will the Packer's Defense Bounce Back Sunday Against the Saints?

Image
Will the Packer's Defense Bounce Back Sunday Against the Saints?                Is the Green Bay Packer’s defense ready to bounce back on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints?             They better be, especially after the performance last week against the Atlanta Falcons. But after looking at this Saints team and their position, I believe this game is the perfect get-right game for the Packers.             Saints star running back Alvin Kamara is currently serving a suspension from the league due to some off-the-field issues and the back-up former Packer Jamal Williams got injured on Monday night against the Panthers. This should serve as nothing but good news to Packer fans, especially after the defense struggled to stop the run in Atlanta.                At the helm of the offense is Derek Carr who was benched at the end of the 2022 season for the Las Vegas Raiders after finally being reconnected with his old college teammate, Davante Adams. But this is a new season for

Can Somebody Wake Up Joe Barry?

Image
Can Somebody Wake Up Joe Barry?                Hello? Sleepy Joe Barry? Are you there?             The Packers and Joe Barry really need to have a conversation about what the hell is going on with the defense.             The number of stars, first-round talent, and depth the Packers’ defense has is ridiculous for Joe Barry to not know how to run this defense. We’ve been seeing the same shit since he got to Green Bay and it’s absolutely insane there have been no changes.             The Atlanta run game is the last straw. How hard is it to make a different adjustment when what is being run on defense isn’t working? Having two down linemen in the interior and linebackers so far away they don’t make a tackle until the ball is eight yards past the line of scrimmage is Joe Barry’s approach to stopping a rushing attack.             This guy is insane, the third and fifteen down where the Packers were lined up twenty yards off the ball not utilizing the long yardage down at all is a play c

The Packer's Struggles in the Second Half Cost Them a Victory

Image
The Packer's Struggles in the Second Half Cost Them a Victory                Ouch, that one really hurt. The Green Bay Packers dropped their second game of the season to the Atlanta Falcons 25-24.             Now obviously everyone is going to point to the fact that Aaron Jones, Christian Watson, David Bakhtiari, and Elgton Jenkins didn’t play in this game. The Packers still put up 24 points of offense without them and led for basically the whole game.             Jordan Love had three touchdown passes, but the Packer's inability to hold long possessions, chew clock, and run the football really hurt them today. If this game has a sign of anything, it’s that the Packers have the receivers to make plays, they just need a running game to complement them.             The biggest struggle in this game was the defense, the effort was absolutely atrocious in the second half. The inability to stop teams rushing the football is something that has haunted the Packers for multi

Rapid Report: Packers First Half Review

Image
Rapid Report: Packers First Half Review                The Packers lead the Falcons 10-9 at the end of the first half in Atlanta.             Jayden Reed came up with his first career touchdown on a pass from Jordan Love. The next score from Green Bay came on a field goal from Anders Carlson.             The Packer's defense held the Falcons to just three points until the Falcons’ final drive to close out the second quarter. The drive resulted in a touchdown pass to Drake London who was covered by Jaire Alexander. Following the score, the extra point was missed which gave the Packers the lead going into the second half.             What would I like to see from Green Bay in the second half?             The offense needs to be more productive, long sustained drives are going to be key for them going forward to offset Atlanta’s run game.             The defense needs to start to limit the rushing attack and contain the outside edge.             Green Bay heads into th

Packers vs. Falcons Preview

Image
Packers vs. Falcons Preview             The 1-0 Green Bay Packers are heading down to Atlanta to face the 1-0 Falcons as their week two matchup.             The Packers historically have an all-time advantage over the Falcons with a 19-16 record. The biggest win in recent memory came in 2010 during the NFC playoffs divisional round on the Packers' journey to their most recent Super Bowl victory.             Atlanta has always put up a fight against Green Bay, since 2008 the record between the two teams is almost split at 6-5 in favor of Green Bay. The record with Green Bay playing in Atlanta is a different story however in favor of Atlanta 11-6 all-time. The most notable Packer loss came in 2016 in the NFC championship game where the Packers got absolutely spanked.             Since then, the Falcons have moved on from their former MVP quarterback Matt Ryan, and hall-of-fame receiver Julio Jones. It’s been a hard reset in Atlanta, but they have acquired a lot of young talen

Packers Injury Report Review

Image
Packers Injury Report Review                As we are heading into the weekend, the Green Bay Packer’s final injury report has some significant names on it that could be out against the Falcons on Sunday.             Four big names are all listed as questionable for this Sunday: Aaron Jones, Christian Watson, David Bakhtiari, and Quay Walker.             Bakhtiari per usual did not practice all week but, as stated in the previous blog the Packers need his reps in live action and not the practice field. I’m confident Bakh will be good to go come Sunday.             Quay Walker was working his way back after entering concussion protocol following the Packer’s first game against the Bears. He was listed as “DNP” on Wednesday’s practice but was at practice listed as limited participation on Thursday and Friday. As long as Walker is confident and passes all the tests, I expect him to be on the field playing an essential role in the defense’s task of stopping the Atlanta rushing atta

David Bakhtiari Doesn't Need Practice

Image
David Bakhtiari Doesn't Need Practice                David Bakhtiari (Bak) began his 2023 season against the Bears in basically perfect fashion.             Bakhtiari allowed zero pressures while protecting Jordan Love in Love’s first season start. The whole offensive line deserves credit for providing Jordan Love ample time in the pocket to make plays and reads.             But Bak stands out for other reasons, after coming off an ACL injury at the end of the 2020 season he has been battling to get back to his full all-pro potential.             He has been in and out of the lineup since the injury happened, only playing in 12 games since 2020. You could definitely sense the frustration that Bakhtiari was feeling trying to get back into the lineup.                 But coming into Sunday’s game against the Bears, he hadn’t practiced basically the whole month of August.  This brings up the question, after his performance on Sunday and the injury history does David Bakhtiari

Aaron Rodgers is Ruled Out For The 2023 Season

Image
Aaron Rodgers is Ruled Out For The 2023 Season BREAKING NEWS!             In the first Monday night football game of the year, Aaron Rodgers suffered a torn achilles on his first drive of the season with the New York Jets.             This is no doubt the absolute worst scenario that could have possibly happened to the Jets. After receiving Rodgers from the Packers back in April, the Jets' 2023 expectations have dramatically changed overnight due to the injury.             Also, I have to mention, if you’re a Packers fan who was cheering that 12 got injured, you’re a complete scumbag. This guy led the franchise for 15 seasons as the starter and gave us a Super Bowl. He may have left in bad blood in the eyes of some fans, but you cannot talk about the Green Bay Packers without mentioning Aaron Rodgers.             Rooting for the injury also makes you look like an idiot; the Packers received a conditional second-round draft pick that could’ve changed into a first-round pic

Packers vs. Bears Week One Recap

Image
Packers vs. Bears Week One Recap                The Green Bay Packers are officially 1-0 after easily handling the Bears as their season-opening opponent! The Packers showed out, no doubt about that, all the hype and trash talk from this offseason leading up to this game lived up to the hype. From Jordan Love to the Packer defense, I think they showed everyone that this team is FOR REAL.             When the Packers kicked off in the first quarter, the defense came out and set the tone early. I don’t know what most Packer fans were thinking, but the energy coming from the defense on the first drive felt super energetic. The defense set the tone with an opening 4 th down stuff on Justin Fields to start the game and set up how this game would play out.             Jordan Love then trotted onto the field as the Packers' first season starter besides Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre. Although the drive ended in a touchdown from Love to Romeo Doubs, Aaron Jones was the most essential p

Rapid Report: Packers First Half Review

Image
Packers First Half Review The halftime score comes in at 10-6 in favor of Green Bay The Packers’ defense performed exceptionally well, holding the Bears offense to 6 points. The missed tackles have been a problem but the defensive pressure up front saved them on multiple occasions. The Packer offense started off with great field position and capitalized with a touchdown pass from Jordan Love to Romeo Doubs. (It looked freaking awesome!) What would I like to see in the second half from Green Bay? It’s simple, give Aaron Jones the football! He had five touches on the first drive, and they scored. After that, he didn’t touch the rock again and we haven’t seen a touchdown since.  Give Jones the ball and our chances of scoring are higher. Now, the defense looked great, especially the pressure up front. My only problem is the tackling by the secondary on broken plays has caused them to give up a ton of yards. If the tackling can improve in the second half, the Packers should be

Packers vs Bears Week One Preview

Image
Packers vs. Bears Week One Preview The Packers and the Bears are going head-to-head tomorrow in one of the most anticipated games in both franchises’ recent histories. The hype and trash talk from this offseason has built up the hype for this game, especially since the departure of Aaron Rodgers. So, what can we expect? There are so many aspects of this game that make it interesting. The biggest question obviously everyone wants to know, is Jordan Love next up in Green Bay. As a fan, it's going to be tough not to overreact to how Love plays on Sunday whether it’s good or bad. Without Christian Watson, he will have to look towards other guys such as Romeo Doubs, Luke Musgrave, and Aaron Jones. Love's composure and character in this game is definitely something to look out for. Going back to Aaron Jones, he is easily the best offensive player on the Packers at this moment. Green Bay should be feeding this guy the ball Sunday, I would be surprised if he has less than 6

The First Injury Report is Out; Should Packer Fans Be Worried?

Image
The First Injury Report is Out; Should Packer Fans Be Worried?      Whelp, the injury report came out yesterday for the Packers and does not offer much excitement at all. There are a lot of big names in the report but some of them were to be expected heading into week one. As of Wednesday, Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs are both dealing with hamstring injuries. Both were listed as non-participants in practice.             Bahktiari and Rashan Gary are the two names I expected to be in the report this week. Bahktiari is working to get through a full season since his ACL in December of 2020 and Gary is going to be on a pitch count for Sunday's game. The other two names included are safety Anthony Johnson Jr. (knee), listed as a full participant in practice, and WR Dontayvion Wicks (hamstring), listed as limited participation.   What do these injuries mean for Green Bay?   It would be a devastating blow for the Packers offensively if they lose Doubs and Watson for the opening game
