Addition by Subtraction: The Theme of the 2026 Packers Offseason So Far

Image
Photo Credit: Evan Siegle, packers.com Addition by subtraction. That’s the lens fans should be looking through at this 2026 Green Bay Packers offseason. Since the start of NFL free agency today, the Packers have cut, released or traded the following players: Rashan Gary, Malik Willis, Colby Wooden, Kingsley Enagbare, Quay Walker, and Elgton Jenkins. To start off the day, news broke that Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst would barter once again with Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones. In exchange for Rashan Gary, the Cowboys traded the Packers a 2027 fourth-round draft pick. For a player who some would say was on the verge of getting cut, the Packers still walked away with a draft pick and saved a ton of cap space this season and going forward. Trade! The Dallas Cowboys are trading for Packers DL Rashan Gary, sources tell The Athletic. Dallas bolsters its pass rush with the addition of the 2019 first-round pick. The Packers will receive a 2027 Day 3 pick in return. pic....

If It Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix It: Packers Offensive Line Addition

Image
Photo Credit: Mark Hoffman, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel In 2024, the Packers’ offensive line was ranked 3rd among the NFL’s pass protection units. Guess where they ended up in 2025?  21st.  Why the drastic drop-off? You can thank Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst for changing the entire dynamic based off one player. Josh Myers. Myers was drafted by the Packers in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He played out his entire rookie contract through 2024 with the Packers before signing with the New York Jets in free agency on a one-year, $2 million deal. Two million dollars is chump change in terms of NFL contracts, and the fact the Packers didn’t end up re-signing Myers was a mistake. He wasn’t an All-Pro center by any means, but he fit the Packers’ offensive line scheme. The other problem is Gutekunst and the Packers front office had no succession plan to replace Myers at all. Well, actually they did. The brilliant succession plan from Brian Gutekunst was to move All-P...

What Did We Learn From Brian Gutekunst at His End of Season Presser?

Image
Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst, Feb 4, 2026 Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst held his season-ending press conference yesterday. There were plenty of triggering quotes in this presser, but none of them topped Gutey’s endorsement of special teams coach Rich Bisaccia. “I have a lot of faith in Rich and what we’re doing there.”  On top of that, Gutekunst also said he has “emphasized special teams” from a personnel standpoint more in the last four or five seasons. I mean what are we talking about here? Packers special teams have been a disaster for years now on the field and in rankings across the league. Then he has the nerve to say he’s emphasized it? If emphasizing special teams means putting Romeo Doubs back to return punts and two rookie receivers who never returned kicks, it’s hard to take seriously.   Brian Gutekunst says he's emphasized special teams from a personnel standpoint more in the last four or five seasons and has seen the payoff. Expresses his fait...

Who Will Be the Next Defensive Coordinator for the Green Bay Packers?

Image
Photo: Al Harris’ game winning pick six against the Seahawks in overtime of the 2003 NFC Wild Card The Green Bay Packers are yet again looking for another defensive coordinator after Jeff Hafley officially signed with the Miami Dolphins on January 19 to become their next head coach. The next defensive coordinator of the Packers will now be the fourth in Matt LaFleur’s tenure as Packers head coach. Hafley follows another former Packer who worked in the front office, John Eric Sullivan, who is also the new general manager of the Dolphins. What’s next? Malik Willis at quarterback? Let’s just call it Lambeau South down there in Miami. ESPN Sources: Dolphins are hiring former Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley as their head coach. Cleanup from Locker Cleanout Day in Green Bay

Image
Photo Credit: Madison Morris, packers.com On Monday this week, the players for the Green Bay Packers cleaned out their lockers and talked to the media one last time before disappearing into the offseason. There were many stories and insights from key players such as Micah Parsons and Tucker Kraft. The main story and question surrounding the Packers right now is what are they going to do with head coach Matt LaFleur? Give him an extension or move on? Parsons, as he leaned on his crutches, made it clear what he thinks of Matt LaFleur as a coach and as a person. Most notably, he was quoted saying, “I reached out to him when I started seeing this and I said, when I agreed to come here, you were part of the reason.” Micah Parsons with a strong endorsement of Packers coach Matt LaFleur. “I reached out to him when I started seeing this and I said, ‘When I agreed to come here, you were part of the reason.’” pic.twitter.com/f8dNblb9Fc — Rob Demovsky (@RobDemovsky) January 12, 2026   Tucker...

Packers Season Ends in Classic Playoff Loss to the Bears

Photo Credit: Evan Siegle, packers.com It’s so hard to believe that it’s really not that hard to believe. Unbelievable things kept happening that every Packer fan could see coming from a mile away on Saturday night at Soldier Field. No matter how crazy they were, the writing was on the wall this entire season. For 16 years, we have been blessed with winning Packers football and chances to play in the postseason. The results? Packers vs. Bears III: All or Nothing

Image
Photo Credit: Evan Siegle, packers.com There’s no other way to put or describe this game between the Packers and Bears on Saturday night. All or Nothing. If the Bears lose to the Packers will it be considered a losing season? "Everything the Bears have accomplished, everything the Bears have done, every positive sentiment is gone if the Packers go in and end their season." - @stoolpresidente pic.twitter.com/7ndv5pcl45 — Wake Up Barstool (@wakeupbarstool) January 5, 2026   Matt LaFleur put it best in one of his press conferences earlier this week. He said, “Ultimately it’s about what you do on that day.” That is exactly the case for Saturday’s game. The Packers have had the definition of a rollercoaster season, starting with two statement wins, a loss to the Browns, a tie against the Cowboys, to holding the one seed in the NFC, season-ending injuries to key players, and ending the season on a 4-game losing streak (oof). This game against the Bears is a chance to wipe the sla...
