Bury the Tape and Move On
Bury the Tape and Move On
Oh, where do I start…
The Packers gave a glimmer of hope
at the end of the ball game, but the Detroit Lions came into Lambeau field and delivered
an absolute whomping.
Credit to the Lions who understand
football and know that Joe Barry will not make any adjustments whatsoever to stop
the run. The defensive formation is a joke, what is the definition of insanity?
Doing the same thing repeatedly expecting a different result. That is the
definition of the Joe Barry era in Green Bay.
Although the offensive line was
banged up, the performance was abysmal. The passing protection and the run
blocking weren’t effective at all. Jordan Love in the pocket looked extremely
bad, not having good protection is one thing, but it’s 50/50 when Love is
throwing the ball. He’ll have some throws that will wow you and then there are throws
that make you ask, how the hell do you miss that? I still believe in Love, and
he is still growing as a player, but the inconsistency needs to improve quickly
if the Packers want to win football games.
Also, why did we not run the ball? I
understand Aaron Jones being limited, but AJ Dillon needs to have more than 5
attempts, let alone 10 total attempts between both of them. Although we haven’t
run the ball well, you need to have some sort of attack to help out your
quarterback. The coaching decision behind that mentality is extremely
frustrating, not to mention all the other coaching issues from this game.
Lafleur, Barry, and Bisaccia are all
veteran coaches in the NFL. With a young team like the Packers, they need to help
the young guys out at all costs. Quay Walker not knowing the rules about
jumping over the line is directly correlated to Bisaccia’s coaching of the
special teams unit. We’ve already talked about Barry, but the message I hoped
Lafleur would give to the team for this game was the exact opposite. There was
no physicality shown at all from the Packers and they got walked all over on as
a result.
This team is young, but man oh man,
the coaching staff needs to be held accountable big time in this game. The
Packers were down a ton of guys, but the coaches need to be prepared for that
going into any game. Complimentary football once again is nowhere to be found.
All you can do is watch the tape and
bury it, simple as that. The Packers have eleven days to get healthy and prepare
for a dysfunctional Raiders team again in a primetime slot. A 2-2 record to
start the season is better than some folks would’ve thought. There are a lot of
football games left and a ton of growth to be done by this football team.
