And Just Like That, Micah Parsons Suffers a Possible ACL Tear and the Packers’ Season Is Turned Upside Down After a Third-Quarter Nightmare Against the Broncos
It’s hard to put into words. If the Packers had simply lost this game to the Broncos and nobody got hurt, we wouldn’t be as down in the dumps as we are right now. Instead, we got the worst of both worlds. When Micah Parsons went down with a noncontact knee injury in the third quarter, I have never seen the life get sucked out of a stadium so fast.

It appeared to be a non-contact left knee injury.

That third quarter against the Broncos will go down as one of the worst moments in Packers history. There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Not only did Parsons go down, but so did Christian Watson with a chest injury, Zach Tom with a knee injury, and Evan Williams also left the game injured.
In the first half, it was all sunshine and rainbows. The Packers’ defense was not great, but it got stops on the first two drives of the game. The offense scored on its first five drives, and Jordan Love was lights out. At one point to start the game, Love was 12 of 16 for 161 yards, 10.1 yards per attempt, one touchdown, and a 127.3 passer rating.
It is a shame we finally got the Josh Jacobs game, and it didn’t even matter. He had an awesome touchdown catch for the first score of the game and broke off his longest rushing touchdown of the season for 40 yards. At that point, I honestly thought, the Packers are really going to put this game away early. Something we have all been asking for.

But the game completely turned on its head after Jordan Love was intercepted by Patrick Surtain on a deep shot intended for Christian Watson. From there, the worst third quarter in Packers history began.
Bo Nix had no trouble dicing up the Packers secondary, which was already struggling even before Micah Parsons left the game. It felt like there were no adjustments and absolutely no plays being made by the Packers defense. Losing Micah means everything to this unit. We may have just seen a preview of what life looks like without him. Without the pressure Parsons brings on every snap, the Packers corners are going to be completely exposed. Their jobs just got a lot harder.
The Packers offense was a complete no show once Christian Watson and Zach Tom went down in the second half. Penalties piled up, nobody could get open, passes were dropped, and constant pressure flipped this game upside down. It was a collective failure across the board. The next few games are crucial for any Packers receiver not named Christian Watson. They have to be better.
Jordan Love is also going to need to step up moving forward. This is where legacies are built, like Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers before him. If you can be the deodorant and cover up the other deficiencies on this team, that is how you cement yourself as an elite quarterback.

The Broncos are for real. There is no doubt about it. A team that many viewed as a dark horse Super Bowl contender before the season is now the number one seed in the AFC, holding precious home field advantage in the altitude of Denver, Colorado. I would not be surprised if we see them in Santa Clara in February.

As for the Packers going forward, it is hard not to feel like the season is over. Right now, they are right back where they were last week, playing the Bears for the number one spot in the NFC North. At the end of the day, it is on the players. One thing about the Green Bay Packers when they are completely counted out is this. They never back down.
Some of the greatest moments in franchise history have come in the face of adversity. Even though it is Black Monday, just imagine how sweet it would be to beat the Bears on the road at Soldier Field on Saturday night to stay undefeated in the division.
It’s a next man up league, and we all know who we are looking at when we say that. Rashan Gary, Lukas Van Ness, and Kingsley Enagbare.
An emotional Rashan Gary on the loss of Micah Parsons, and what he told Parsons after the game.

The Packers still have three games left with a chance to secure home field advantage, which feels even more important now with Micah Parsons possibly done for the season. This is also a moment where Jordan Love can define his standing in the league. If Love can win the next three games, earn a home playoff game, and win it, the narrative changes.
It is a sad day. It is a bad day. The question is whether the Packers respond in the face of adversity. I sure hope so, because right now it feels like the sky is falling at 1265 Lombardi.
