Will the Packer's Defense Bounce Back Sunday Against the Saints?

Is the Green Bay Packer’s defense ready to bounce back on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints?

They better be, especially after the performance last week against the Atlanta Falcons. But after looking at this Saints team and their position, I believe this game is the perfect get-right game for the Packers.

Saints star running back Alvin Kamara is currently serving a suspension from the league due to some off-the-field issues and the back-up former Packer Jamal Williams got injured on Monday night against the Panthers. This should serve as nothing but good news to Packer fans, especially after the defense struggled to stop the run in Atlanta.

At the helm of the offense is Derek Carr who was benched at the end of the 2022 season for the Las Vegas Raiders after finally being reconnected with his old college teammate, Davante Adams. But this is a new season for Carr and this game may present him with a lot more opportunities to throw the football, especially since the first and second-string running backs are not playing.

The Saints have a young star in Chris Olave who is expected to put up big numbers this year alongside veteran Michael Thomas who has battled a ton of injuries to get back to playing status after leading the NFL in receiving yards in 2019. Both receivers have high potential, but the Packers secondary is going to be looking for blood on Sunday after they struggled against Atlanta, specifically star cornerback Jaire Alexander.

The strength of the Packer's edge rushers in combination with the star corners is a recipe for disaster for the Saint's offense. With Derek Carr making more throws than normal I am more than confident the Packer's defense can get stops and create turnovers. The middle of the field is no free area either with Quay Walker and De'Vondre Campbell filling the gaps. Walker is off to a great sophomore start and could be up for another big game against the Saints.

If Joe Barry is up for a get-right game with his defensive unit, the Packer’s home opener could get ugly pretty early for the visiting New Orleans squad.
