Final Thoughts: Packers vs. Lions
Final Thoughts: Packers vs. Lions
This morning
the final injury report came out before tonight’s game in Green Bay featuring
the Packers and the Detroit Lions.
Per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network,
players that are ruled out for the game tonight include Packers David
Bakhtiari, De’Vondre Campbell, and Elgton Jenkins. Christian Watson and Aaron Jones
are both expected to play, while cornerback Jaire Alexander is listed as
questionable, but is leaning more towards not playing tonight. Tackle Zach Tom
and defensive back Carrington Valentine are also listed as questionable.
The Lions are expected to have running
back David Montgomery and starting tackle Taylor Decker available tonight. They
will however be missing offensive guard Halapoulivaati Vaitai and tackle Matt
Nelson. Questionable players include defensive back Emmanuel Moseley, free
safety Kirby Joseph, and guard Jonah Jackson.
With the injuries to the Detroit
offensive line, the Packers' pressure up front from Rashan Gary, Kenny Clark,
Lukas Van Kness, and others could create a ton of problems for the Detroit
offensive tonight. However, if the pressure isn’t there for the Packers'
defense, the secondary will be tested in the passing game with receiver Amon-Ra
St. Brown leading the Lions' wide receiving core.
The Packers’ offense has the opportunity
to give a glimpse as to what they can produce the rest of the season with the
availability of Christian Watson and Aaron Jones. With both players available,
Green Bay has the opportunity to really spread the ball around and take
pressure off young guys such as Luke Musgrave and Jayden Reed who both have stepped
up immensely in the past two games.
I hope Matt Lafleur's message to his
team today brings out the physicality and toughness in the Packers for this game.
Detroit brings such a tough gritty mindset courtesy of head coach Dan Campbell.
They pushed around the Packers twice last year and ended their playoff hopes in
the final game of the year in Lambeau.
With all the hype surrounding the Lions this season, it’s hard to imagine the Packers haven’t heard it and are sick of it. Detroit didn’t even make the playoffs last year and they are talking Super Bowl? Come on man, this is a brand new era of Green Bay Packers football!
This team is full of young energy and is ready to punch the Detroit Lions right in the mouth tonight on primetime in front of all of America.
