Packers Hiring Boston College coach Jeff Hafley to Become New Defensive Coordinator

Image
The Packers have officially announced who is taking over the open defensive coordinator job. Per Pete Thamel of ESPN, Boston College head coach Jeff Hafley will be leading the Packers’ defense next season. Sources: Boston College coach Jeff Hafley is expected to become the new defensive coordinator of the Green Bay Packers. Hafley has brought BC to bowl eligibility in three of his four years. pic.twitter.com/TrcArWmiyb — Pete Thamel (@PeteThamel) January 31, 2024             This hire was definitely out of left field, and I can’t say I love it or hate it. Nonetheless, his name isn’t Joe Barry or Brandon Staley, so I think the Packers are off to a pretty good start.             One thing I’ve noticed that Hafley preaches to his defense is the importance of press-man coverage. Press-man coverage? On the Green Bay Packers’ defense? This can’t be real. “Love press man. Got to be able to play press man. Have to be able to." Jeff Hafley. Ok, I'm in. — Aaron Nagler (@A

Packers vs. 49ers Recap: The Future is Bright in Green Bay

And just like that, the season is over. What a ride it has been. No doubt this loss is going to sting, the Packers had so many opportunities and they just couldn’t capitalize on expanding their lead in this game.             You can’t help but be proud of this team. As the youngest team in the NFL in a transition season, the Packers found their guy at quarterback and won a playoff game. Obviously in a game like that against the 49ers, you want to seize the moment and win that game. But at the end of the day, the youth and inexperience of this team got the best of the Packers. Going 2-5 on trips to the red zone is a real kick in the teeth. The offense had been cooking the last few weeks and we knew they could get their points but that just wasn’t the case. Adding in Carlson’s field goal miss too which would’ve kept this game tied after the CMC’s last touchdown makes it look even worse. We knew Carlson wasn’t great throughout the season and Matt LaFleur even said it himself.

Packers vs. 49ers Preview: Prepare for a Matt LaFleur Masterclass

Can the Green Bay Packers do it again? Can they shock the entire nation by beating the San Francisco 49ers at home? It’s going to be a tall task and a lot of things are going to need to go their way. However, as we’ve seen this season, any team is beatable.             The 49ers are an absolute wagon and as of recent history, they’ve dominated the Packers in the playoffs. However, we’re not here to dwell on the past, we’re here looking forward to the future as the Packers themselves have done this season. They battled back from a 3-6 record and are now one of the hottest teams in the NFL following their 4 th  win in a row against the Dallas Cowboys last weekend. The Packers are 0-4 in their last four playoff games against the 49ers. Aaron Jones: "It's not about the past. It's about the future and what we're about to do right now." pic.twitter.com/eoQfRXlx9g — Adriana Torres (@TorresAdrianaTV) January 18, 2024             I could say the Packers don’t have a sho

The Packers Just Massacred the Dallas Cowboys

Holy cow. The Packers just absolutely whomped the Cowboys on national television. Who could’ve seen this coming?             So much can be said about this team and how well they played. From Aaron Jones’ ownership of the Cowboys to Jordan Love, and back to the defense who stepped up in the big moment. All these things circle back to one singular reason, and that reason is Matt LaFleur.             LaFleur deserves a lot of credit for doing this against a powerhouse team like the Dallas Cowboys with the youngest roster in the NFL. Some are asking the question, was Aaron Rodgers holding LaFleur back during their time together in Green Bay? That’s a whole different conversation for another time. The point is, LaFleur can COACH!             The offensive production in this game was off the charts. Aaron Jones tied the record for most touchdowns in a playoff game as a member of the Packers. Getting Jones rolling was exactly what the Packers needed to do in this game, and

Packers vs Cowboys Preview: Why Not Us?

(The Packers haven't lost at AT&T Stadium since its opening in 2009.)               Everybody is asking the question; Can the Green Bay Packers knock off the Dallas Cowboys?             It’s more likely than you may think. Although the Cowboys have been a force at home this season against bad teams, they have struggled against teams above .500. Most recently against the Detroit Lions, who got screwed by the refs that ended up costing them the game to the Cowboys. The Cowboys aren’t frauds by any means, but the disrespect towards the Packers in this game is getting out of hand.             The Packers have turned up their offense in the second half of the season and Jordan Love has been killing it. Plus, the Cowboys have struggled against teams who can run the football. (Insert Aaron Jones) The last time Aaron Jones was in Dallas, he had a monster game and ran for four rushing touchdowns against the Cowboys. If the Packers can get Jones rolling and get up early, they have

Bonus Football

Image
The Packers making the playoffs this season is just a bonus on top of everything they’ve done. I know I briefly mentioned this in my last blog, but it’s a pretty big deal when you think about it all things considered.             To start, you have to talk about Jordan Love and what was expected of him going into this season. After sitting behind Aaron Rodgers for three seasons, the Packers felt that he was ready to take the next step of being the starter. The Packers were deeply scrutinized, especially considering the weapons they left Jordan Love to work with in his first season. In hindsight, it’s easy to say he had weapons all along, but that just wasn’t the case the first half of the season.             After his monster performance against the Bears in week one, Aaron Jones would end up missing multiple games with a hamstring injury. Alongside Jones, Christian Watson was also dealing with a hamstring injury to begin the season. He wouldn’t appear in the Packers’ o

Packers vs. Bears Recap: The Ticket is Punched

Photo via Evan Siegle on packers.com             It’s official. The Green Bay Packers have punched their ticket to the playoffs with a huge win against the Chicago Bears. pic.twitter.com/n1QHc9FhZ2 — Viva La Stool (@VivaLaStool) January 8, 2024        Just think about how crazy that is. At one point the Packers were 2-5 and had a stretch of games against the Chargers, Lions, and Chiefs. The odds were definitely not in their favor. Credit to Matt LaFleur for keeping this team together through the mid-season struggles and letting Jordan Love cook!       This game against the Bears wasn’t pretty by any means, but a win is a win. Costly missed calls and rulings happened on both sides of the ball which had both fan bases pretty agitated. But good teams find a way to win these games and that’s exactly what the Packers did. Jordan Love once again showed up when the lights were bright finishing this game 27/32 with 316 passing yards and 2 passing touchdowns. His two best throws didn’t eve

Packers vs. Bears Preview: Win and Get In

Image
It all comes down to this.             In a rebuilding season that’s had its ups and downs, the Packers have a shot to clinch a playoff spot this Sunday at home in Lambeau Field against the Chicago Bears. Does it get any sweeter than that?             No, it doesn’t. Because beating the Bears is one of the best feelings on earth, let alone possibly beating them to get into the dance. This game isn’t going to be as easy as you may think. The Bears have improved a lot since the beating the Packers served up to them in week one. Defensively, the Packers have to worry about Montez Sweat who the Bears acquired from the Commanders in a trade this season. The Bears are 4-1 in their last five games and are currently on a two-game winning streak.             Offensively, Justin Fields is obviously a problem. He’s athletic and can use his legs to extend plays long enough to find a hole in the defense. Fields has played well as of recently for the Bears and the city of Chicag

The Packers Destroyed the Vikings on SNF

(Photo via Evan Siegle on packers.com)             I have two words for you…Jayden Reed!             What an impressive performance from the green and gold in primetime against the Vikings. They dominated in every aspect of this game as they should’ve. Jayden Reed is easily the steal of the draft this season and this game proved it even more. The connection between Love and Reed is something special, and the future looks very bright for the Packers. . @jordan3love ➡️ @JaydenReed5 for the TD! #GBvsMIN | #GoPackGo 📺: NBC pic.twitter.com/8QRr5RCyv7 — Green Bay Packers (@packers) January 1, 2024 THAT'S A @jordan3love TD! 🏃💨 #GBvsMIN | #GoPackGo 📺: NBC pic.twitter.com/mnNyZGdKJO — Green Bay Packers (@packers) January 1, 2024 ANOTHER @JaydenReed5 TD! #GBvsMIN | #GoPackGo 📺: NBC pic.twitter.com/FT58FpKFbq — Green Bay Packers (@packers) January 1, 2024 Capping off a 91-yard drive!
