Packers vs. Bears Preview: Win and Get In
It all comes
down to this.
In a rebuilding season that’s had its
ups and downs, the Packers have a shot to clinch a playoff spot this Sunday at
home in Lambeau Field against the Chicago Bears. Does it get any sweeter than
that?
No, it doesn’t. Because beating the
Bears is one of the best feelings on earth, let alone possibly beating them to
get into the dance. This game isn’t going to be as easy as you may think. The
Bears have improved a lot since the beating the Packers served up to them in
week one. Defensively, the Packers have to worry about Montez Sweat who the
Bears acquired from the Commanders in a trade this season. The Bears are 4-1 in
their last five games and are currently on a two-game winning streak.
Offensively, Justin Fields is obviously
a problem. He’s athletic and can use his legs to extend plays long enough to
find a hole in the defense. Fields has played well as of recently for the Bears
and the city of Chicago has rallied behind him. Alongside Fields is DJ Moore
who can beat guys deep for big plays as he’s proven all season. The Packers
locked down Moore in week one and hopefully, we’ll see more of the same this Sunday.
The injury report ahead of this game
is endless. As of now for the Packers, they will be without AJ Dillon and Rudy
Ford. Isaiah McDuffie is listed as doubtful with a neck/concussion injury.
Christian Watson is listed as questionable after not participating in practice
on Friday following two straight days of practice. Matt LaFleur said they wanted
to give him the day and see where he is come game time on Sunday.

Matt LaFleur said of Watson: “We felt he had two good days of practice and wanted to give him today and we’ll see where he’s at on Sunday.” https://t.co/CPf7gMUKdG

However, Jordan Love will have a
variety of weapons at his disposal on Sunday. Aaron Jones, Romeo Doubs, Jayden
Reed, Dontayvion Wicks…I mean the list just goes on. Love has shown his ability
to spread the ball around and I expect we’ll see more of that on Sunday.
The Packers are in the same position
as they were at the end of last season. Facing a divisional opponent with nothing
to lose, they can’t make the same mistake twice. I do think the Lions were a
better team last season at this point and had a better coach than Matt “Dweberflus”.
This game won’t be a cakewalk by any
means, but I have a lot of confidence in this team this time around compared to
last season. The youth on this team is a big reason, this team is energized and
ready to prove something after being written off this season. Plus, it’s the
Bears, who the Packers have not lost to at home since 2015.
Win and get in baby, let’s beat the
Bears! Also, here is a little throwback to the last time the Packers played the Bears with a playoff spot on the line. Oh the good ole days.
