Is This a Make or Break Season for Matt LaFleur?

Image
Is This a Make or Break Season for Matt LaFleur?           Is Matt LaFleur going to be on the hotseat after this season? Some may say so, but others might look at the regular season record he's put together in his first four years and say differently. His regular season record of 47-19 might be the only fact some may need to justify his position, especially after the difficulties of last season. LaFleur maintains a winning percentage of .712. The postseason is also something that needs to be mentioned. When you win 13 games in three straight seasons, at least one Super Bowl appearance should’ve been made. The Packers have underachieved in the playoffs the last three years they've made it with LaFleur. The two NFC championship losses and the brutal loss to San Francisco in 2022 are just three more “Vietnam flashbacks” for Packer fans in our history of playoff football. No, I’m not saying every playoff loss is completely LaFleur’s fault, bu...

Cherish Football

Image
Cherish Football                One more week, just one more week and we get 18 weeks of Sundays with seven hours of commercial free football.             I feel like I’ve been waiting a millennium for this NFL season to start, especially after the horrific ending to last season in Green Bay.             But that’s all in the past, this season is the start of a new era and a new opportunity for the green and gold.              For this blog, I wanted to tone it down a little on the Packers talk and try to bring all of us football fans together. Maybe I’ll get some hate for this, but we gotta be somewhat realistic. We only have 18 weeks of this beautiful sport. It definitely doesn’t give you a good feeling in your gut when you hear that, but it’s the truth. Bu...

Aaron Jones Is The Most Underrated Running Back In The NFL

Image
Aaron Jones Is The Most Underrated Running Back In The NFL           This take isn't controversial at all! The stats come to prove it too, Aaron Jones is flying under the radar going into this upcoming NFL season.                 Jones has rushed for 1,000 yards in three of his last four seasons in the league, his best being last season in 2022 with 1,121 yards rush yards.      Jones is also an impressive receiving back, in the past four seasons he's had over 300 yards receiving in each season. His best season receiving came in 2019 with 474 receiving yards. His career highs in receiving touchdowns also came in the past two seasons with 5 in 2022 and 6 in 2021.      My point being listing all these stats? It's simple, Aaron Jones is one of very few running backs in this league who can get it done both ways. A versatile running back like Jones is hard to come by in this le...

The Packer's Defensive Front Looks SCARY

Image
The Packer's Defensive Front Looks SCARY       What has been a struggle for Packers the last few seasons has been the presence of a dominant pass rush unit. This upcoming NFL season looks to be a chance for the Packers to change the narrative.     For starters, last season the Packers lost their star edge rusher in Rashan Gary to a torn ACL. That loss hurt them badly and made an already mediocre pass rush worse. But Gary is back and will be making his debut since the injury week one on a pitch count against the Bears. Gary finished last season with 6 sacks through only 9 games and was on pace to become one of the best in the league.      Across from Gary will be the rookie debut of the Packer's first round draft pick in 2023, Lukas Van Kness. At 6'5, 272 lbs, Van Kness brings another huge body across the field from Rashan Gary to add to the Green Bay pass rush. Van Kness finished his career with the Iowa Hawkeyes producing 13.5 sacks and 19.5 tack...

Romeo Doubs is Going to Be a STAR

Romeo Doubs is Going to Be a STAR     In case you people aren't aware, the number one wide receiver in Green Bay isn't going to be Christian Watson...it's going to be Romeo Doubs.    Doubs was slowly turning into the Packers number one option over Allen Lazard as a rookie. Over the course of a 6 game stretch he accrued 41 targets from Aaron Rodgers. Doubs' routing running, ball security, and humble mindset is what I think separates him from the others in the receiver room.      The Packers have had a number of non-first rounders who have grown into excellent receiving options such as Davante Adams (2nd round), Randall Cobb (2nd Round), Greg Jennings (2nd Round), James Jones (3rd Round), etc.     The point I'm trying to make is Green Bay isn't stupid when it comes to these draft picks. Green Bay is never a top free agent destination so the front office has to work with what they got. Identifying game-changing talent is what Green Bay does and ...

Is Jordan Love THE GUY?

Image
Is Jordan Love THE GUY? Well Dan Katz certainly hopes not, and the rest of the NFC North should feel the same way too.  Jordan Love has been under the wing of an NFL MVP 2 out of his 3 seasons in Green Bay whose name happens to be Aaron Rodgers.  As a 21 year old kid who grew up with ARod at the helm in Green Bay I couldn't imagine a better situation for Love. Aaron was definitely pissed when JLo got drafted (As to why he had two MVP seasons) but at least he embraced Love in the QB room.  In plenty of interviews we saw Aaron give Love praise and wish him nothing but the best. Drafting your replacement has gotta be the biggest ego check. especially if you're a stud like ARod. But I'd rather be in this position than signing Mike Glennon for 3 years on a $45 million dollar deal.  Yuck, even typing that up made me sick. Do I expect Jordan Love to replicate what Aaron has done during his time in Green Bay? Absolutely not, if we get an average Jordan Love who can ru...

Pilot: Real Packer Fans Know

Image
Welcome to the first post of the blog! For starters, the name is Frenchy, I'm a born and bred cheesehead right here in the state of Wisconsin. As far as the reason for the blog goes it's simple, I love the Packers. I've been a fan since I was a child and I stuck to my roots. When football rolls around I am an absolute psycho fan who is locked in right until the very end. Anyhow, lets get right to it, you gotta be an absolute lunatic if you don't think the Green Bay Packers win 9 to 10 games this season. The schedule speaks for itself, lets start with the NFC north. The Chicago Bears for starters had the number one pick last year for a reason, they stink and they are still gonna stick this year too. So adding one wide receiver who for Justin Fields to work with is gonna fix is 140 ypg average? Give me a break, the guy breaks 2-3 big plays and has a crappy defense.  Next up the Detroit Lions who I will give props to have pissed me off the last few times we've played b...
