Aaron Jones Is The Most Underrated Running Back In The NFL
Jones is also an impressive receiving back, in the past four seasons he's had over 300 yards receiving in each season. His best season receiving came in 2019 with 474 receiving yards. His career highs in receiving touchdowns also came in the past two seasons with 5 in 2022 and 6 in 2021.
My point being listing all these stats? It's simple, Aaron Jones is one of very few running backs in this league who can get it done both ways. A versatile running back like Jones is hard to come by in this league considering where the running back position has trended in recent seasons up to this point.
Running back committees have shown effectiveness just as recently as the Chiefs in 2022 in their Super Bowl win. But being able to keep a guy on the field for three downs and the defense having to guess what is happening next is something that is becoming a lost art.
Aaron Jones has continued to fly under the radar even with his success in past seasons and his future in Green Bay has him aiming to be one of the best running backs in franchise history. This season I expect that we are going to see Jones handle the rock a ton in order to help Jordan Love ease into his first season as the starter.
I can see Green Bay going back to the style that got them to what we are known as today. No, I'm not saying the power sweep is making a return, but running the football is what makes Green Bay tough to play, even more so in the frozen tundra in the winter months. We seem to have gotten away from that in the Rodgers era and this is the perfect opportunity for Green Bay to go back to being a gritty football team.
With Matt Lafleur having full control of the reigns on offense, I have full confidence in this Green Bay squad having balance on offense. Week should get all Packers fans even more fired up going against a sorry Bears defense.
Real Packer fans know.🧀
