The Packers Offense Can Still Get The Job Done

Ope, you caught me guys. I am all the way back in to believing the Packers can beat the Eagles on Monday Night Football. Reason being? Let me give you a couple.

Firstly, the NFL is a week-to-week league, and that’s why it’s the best. The Packers are coming off a let-down spot after losing to the Panthers is the ugliest fashion possibly. On top of that, Tucker Kraft is out for the season and apparently dead to Romeo Doubs.

This Packers team still leads their division despite their recent struggles. The negativity following the loss to the Panthers may once again be what this team needed. Matt LaFleur, although he’s been questionable to say the least this season. Has an opportunity to right the ship in against the Eagles, granted, he’s missing his best offensive weapon so far this season.

The Packers offense must evolve, and LaFleur knows that. People are sick of his play calling and he’s facing a lot of heat. This is where he makes his money. The Packers still have Josh Jacobs and have Jordan freaking Love. Love has played great so far this season, regardless of how silly his three interceptions have been.

Instead of throwing the ball horizontally, the Packers need to try something new. How about throwing it forward this week against an Eagles defense that’s allowing 215.9 passing yards per game? LaFleur is known for scheming guys open, and he needs to do that in the intermediate passing game. Put the ball in Jordan Love’s hands and quit calling plays like a scared turtle. “Bread and butter” is a phrase I keep hearing about this Packers offense, and it’s something they still don’t have. With this year’s version of the Packers, the passing game needs to become exactly that.

The Packers still have reliable weapons on the outside. This will be the third game they have Christian Watson back in the offense who can take the top off a defense. Matthew Golden’s opportunities for targets just sky-rocketed due to the loss of Tucker Kraft. Romeo Doubs has been reliable all season, and I feel like we all forgot about Dontayvion Wicks and the return of Jayden Reed at some point.

The big question mark? Luke Musgrave. Because of how Tucker Kraft has played this season, he had become somewhat of an afterthought in this Packers offense. It’s sad we lost Kraft who truly is irreplaceable. Musgrave has an opportunity though to make an immediate impact the rest of the season and prove he deserves a place in the Packers offense going forward.

We all know the play-calling needs to change, but the success of the offense ultimately boils down to the offensive line. They haven’t been great, and it hasn’t helped that the Packers threw Elgton Jenkins into the fire at starting center for the first time in his career. On top of that, the injuries haven’t let up for this unit, especially for Aaron Banks, who’s been injured since he stepped onto the tarmac in Green Bay. Still, I believe this group can get the job done, particularly in the passing game. Clean pockets have been the pride of this line, and Jordan Love has been one of the best quarterbacks in football when not pressured.

The run game is a different story. If Josh Jacobs wasn’t wearing a Packers jersey, I’m not sure there would be much of a rushing attack. He continues to battle and get yards after contact in just about every game this season. To be fair, he was the only bright spot in the loss against the Panthers. Still, keeping Jacobs rolling is going to be a key for the offense going forward.

I may sound crazy for still believing in this team, but I won’t stop. There is too much talent not to win a lot more football games this season. The league, the media, and plenty of trolls won’t take this Packers team serious, so let them. Whether it’s through overconfidence, stupid fan logic, or cope, I’ll always believe in the Green Bay Packers to win a football game.
