The Packers Can't Beat a Good Team. Now They're Playing with House Money in the Playoffs Again

No embedded tweets in this blog, folks. Just straight heat surrounding our beloved Green Bay Packers.

Another hole dug too deep, and another comeback that started too late. Nothing new from the Packers after the loss to the Vikings on Sunday. I thought the Packers had a chance to steal this one, and they did give themselves a shot at the end of the game. But it didn’t matter. They never deserved to be in the game from the beginning. You can go on and on about the things this team needs to do to be better. The main thing is, they just make too many mistakes.

Drops on offense. I mean, Jayden Reed has fallen off the face of the earth, the true definition of all or nothing. The Packers have no passing offense right now compared to the end of last season. Obviously, they are run-first thanks to Josh Jacobs, but there was absolutely no passing game until they ran tempo against the Vikings' prevent defense in the fourth quarter. Jordan Love had about 64 passing yards in the third quarter, if I’m not mistaken. It’s inexcusable. I don’t think he’s the problem. But LaFleur? Does this guy make any adjustments? Nobody wants to hear the same old “it falls on me” that we’ve heard all season long. Let Jordan cook.

The pass rush. Four first-round picks on the defensive line, and they all suck. The defense had key injuries today that obviously didn’t help, but this pass rush is pitiful. If you’re the Eagles, you can’t wait to go up against this unit in the playoffs. I mean, Sam Darnold had 100 years to throw the ball in the pocket all game long. It’s a disgrace how bad Rashan Gary and Kenny Clark have been since they got paid. Lukas Van Ness is basically a glorified Dean Lowry. Horrible. Miles Garrett, you are a Green Bay Packer.

Credit to the Vikings, they are for real. Sam Darnold has completely revived his career. He did try to throw a couple of picks in this one and ended up throwing one to Carrington Valentine. But they are a well-coached team. Kevin O’Connell mopped the floor with Matt LaFleur in this game, completely outclassing him in that category. Their defense is crazy with all the blitzes. Brian Flores and Andrew Van Ginkel are game-changers that nobody knew this defense needed going into this season.

As for the Packers? We’re playing with house money now. I don’t expect them to make a run, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they do. They aren’t in the upper echelon of the NFC right now, but they aren’t at the bottom, either. Call them frauds if you want, just remember it is also the second year of the Jordan Love era with the youngest team in the NFL. They won the games they should’ve but in reality, haven’t beaten any good teams. (Seahawks and Texans are above .500) It’s just hard to look at this team and say they are better than the squad we saw at the end of last season.

You have to hope this loss is a wake-up call, but that never seems to be the case in Green Bay. The only person we know who has performed better out of spite for the green and yellow was Aaron Rodgers. But! We play the Bears next week, and wouldn’t it be sweet to mop the floor before we get our hearts broken in the playoffs? I’d be so in for that. Make me believe, Packers. Please. You know we all want to!
