Malik Willis Revenge Game? One Last Look Before the Weekend: Packers vs. Titans

With just a few days left before the Packers take on the Titans, there’s one big question on everyone's mind: Is Jordan Love suiting up on Sunday?

Nobody knows for sure. Love practiced Wednesday through Friday, but he was limited in reps. Head coach Matt LaFleur made it clear in Thursday’s press conference that Love will be a game-time decision, with his status likely uncertain until 90 minutes before kickoff. Of course, we all want to see Love back in action, but let’s be real—he needs time to get back to 100% (or at least close) before the schedule starts heating up.

That’s why starting Malik Willis against the Titans on Sunday should be an easy call. The Packers' defense has been lights out so far this season, and on the other side, you’ve got Will Levis leading Tennessee’s offense. Willis doesn’t have to be a superhero. With the way the defense has been playing, he just needs to manage the game and let the Packers' D take care of business.

All things considered, giving Love another week to recover before facing a red-hot Vikings squad is a no-brainer. Willis has already shown he can hold things down in his absence after Sunday’s performance. Let’s see if LaFleur pulls the trigger and rolls with Willis on Sunday. Either way, Packers fans, we’re in good hands.

But it’s not all smooth sailing for Green Bay. There are a few more injuries plaguing the Packers. Jordan Morgan (shoulder) is out and Carrington Valentine (ankle) is listed as doubtful. Elgton Jenkins and Jayden Reed are also banged up but even with those injuries, the Packers should still have the upper hand.

Looking ahead to Sunday, the Packers face what looks like a fairly easy challenge against a Titans offense that’s struggled early this season. Sure, they’ve got some nice pieces like Calvin Ridley and Tony Pollard, along with veteran DeAndre Hopkins, but the Titans' offensive line has been a disaster. If the Packers' defense brings the pressure early and often—which they’ve done pretty well so far under new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley—we could see Levis make some big mistakes. Don’t be shocked if Xavier McKinney nabs his third interception in three games. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen this kind of ball-hawking play from the Packers’ defense.

On the flip side, though, the Titans' defense is legit after acquiring a ton of studs this offseason. They remind me of those classic Bears teams—always a tough defense but just never get it right on offense. Jeffrey Simmons anchors a solid defensive front, while L'Jarius Sneed (fresh from the Chiefs) and Quandre Diggs (Seawhawks) round out a strong secondary. It’s no cakewalk.

Now, let’s talk about how the Packers' offense should approach this. If Malik Willis gets the nod against his former team, expect Matt LaFleur to call another conservative but creative game plan. LaFleur will likely focus on keeping Willis comfortable, ensuring he knows where the ball is going on every play. Willis, humble and grateful for his time in Nashville (even though it didn’t end as he hoped), was just a stand-up guy in his interview this week when asked about his former team.

It won’t be as easy as last week against the Colts’ terrible run defense, especially with film on Willis now. But hey, LaFleur’s a top coach for a reason. He’ll find a way to make it work.

If Jordan Love ends up playing, that changes everything. With Love back, the Packers’ passing attack comes back to life. Add Josh Jacobs in the backfield, and suddenly this offense can do it all. Play-action, shot plays, dink-and-dunk down the field, pounding the rock—it’s all on the table. Also, don’t forget about the Packers' offensive line, which has been a cornerstone of this team since the Aaron Rodgers era. They’ll be ready to handle the Titans' defensive front.

One thing’s for sure: whether it’s Willis or Love, the Packers are equipped to handle the Titans on Sunday. Let’s hope for another dominant performance.
