The Lambeau Leap Makes a Return in the Packers' Win Over the Chargers

Football is fun, especially when your team gets a dub, and your quarterback looks sick. That was exactly the case for the Packers and Jordan Love on Sunday.

It felt like a coming-out party for this young team with guys like Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks making huge plays all game long.  To start the season Reed got a lot of hate for making mistakes that most rookies normally make. But recently, Reed has performed very well and become a key weapon for Jordan Love. The second-year guys showed out too, both Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson scored a touchdown in the game as well. The Lambeau Leap also made a return after Jayden Reed scored on a sick reverse play, boy that guy is fast.

Jordan Love took advantage of this matchup as well. After a great game against the Steelers, he followed up with 322 passing yards and two touchdowns in this game. This game marked the first 300-yard passing game for the Packers since the 2021 season.

These are the games you need to perform in, the haters will make the excuse that the Chargers aren’t a good defense, but this is how you’re supposed to play against a bad defense. Enough of the hate, Love has picked up his play recently and has a chance to finish the season on a high note. I’m not completely sold yet, but in these tough matchups coming up, Love has a chance to change the perception that he has set for himself so far.

The offensive side of the ball did suffer a severe blow, however. Veteran running back Aaron Jones was carted off the field after suffering what looked to be a knee injury. This sucks for everyone. Regardless of what you thought of Jones this season, he’s a veteran leader who has a key role in helping this young team grow. Matt LaFleur said in the post-game that he doesn’t think the injury is long-term which is good news. But if this consolidates to anything and Jones is done for the remainder of the season, we are going to see a lot more of Jordan Love slinging the rock the rest of the season. Now that’s exciting.

The defensive side had its ups and downs but got the job done. The missed tackles and bad coverage are something we’ve seen a lot this season. But without Jaire Alexander in this game, the Packers held the Chargers’ offense to just 20 points. They also made a huge play forcing a fumble on the goal line which ended up in the hands of Rashan Gary. Gary also had a sack in this game as well. Love them or hate them, the Packers’ defense has held opponents to an average of 20.2 points this season, including 15.3 in their last three games.

The Packers are now 4-6 on the season and are on a short week as they match up with the Lions on Thanksgiving in Detroit. Following that matchup, they will then host the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs at Lambeau Field.

The Packers are currently in the hunt with a few other teams in the NFC for a playoff shot. The next two games will both be true tests, but the games that follow are very winnable. The Giants, Buccaneers, Panthers, Vikings, and Bears are all teams that are either in the race or very far from it.

It’s a week-to-week league and this week, the Packers are contending for a playoff spot. It’s crazy how that works, but that is why the NFL is king.
