Where Do the Packers Stand in the NFC North?
We’ve officially hit week six of the
NFL season and the question remains, where do the Green Bay Packers stand in
the north?
Obviously, you have to start with
the Detroit Lions. They come in through six weeks at 5-1, leading the NFC North
comfortably following a road win against the Tampa Bay Bucs. The Lions have
shown they are definitely the team to beat in the north, as Jordan Love said in
his post-game presser following the fat L the Packers took against them.

Heading in a completely different direction than the Lions, the Chicago Bears are undoubtedly at the bottom of the north and the NFL. The Bears currently hold the number one and two picks for next season’s draft while accumulating a 1-5 record. They are also in a bit of a predicament. If Justin Fields was the guy this is no doubt a dream scenario for a rebuilding team. But if there is any team that has a good chance of messing up the possible scenario of a Caleb Williams and Marvin Harrison Jr. combo, it’s easily the Bears. I have no idea how it’s possible but boy, all Bears fans can hope and pray for is that this team gets sold as soon as possible otherwise we'll be getting more of the following videos sadly.

Next up is the Minnesota Vikings who are easily the most underachieving team in the north this season. They barely beat the Bears on Sunday, which should tell you almost everything about this team. Yes, Justin Jefferson did not play, but the defense is absolutely atrocious up in Minnesota and they have no running game whatsoever. I understand Dalvin Cook was getting old, but Alexander Mattison’s production is nothing compared to Cook’s. The Vikings are also facing questions this season, Kirk Cousins is in the last year of his deal and Justin Jefferson is due for maybe the biggest extension for a wide receiver in the NFL. The Vikings are 2-5 and if they lose a couple more games, I wouldn’t be surprised if Jefferson questions his future in Minnesota.

As for the Packers, they beat the Bears
who’ve been a complete dumpster fire, so that’s not even a question. The Bears
still suck
The Vikings' defense has been miserable, and without Justin
Jefferson, the Packers' defense gets a much easier task following their next
game against the Broncos. If Green Bay can take advantage of both Chicago and
Minnesota, there’s no reason they shouldn’t be hunting for a wild card spot in
the NFC.
As for the
Lions, the Packers face a ton of adversity, especially with their next matchup
being on the road in Detroit.
It’s a no-brainer the Packers sit as the number two team in
the NFC North. But with a ton of games left against inferior opponents, Matt LaFleur
and his team need to lock it in following the bye week in Denver. Health is
definitely a factor, but in a weak NFC, there’s no reason Green Bay shouldn’t
be battling for a playoff spot come January.
