The Packers Need to Beat Denver, Bad!

We’ve finally made it! It has felt like an eternity, but the Packers finally get to play a football game this Sunday against the Denver Broncos. What should we expect?

The Packers are coming off a bye following their disgusting loss on Monday Night Football against the Las Vegas Raiders. Matt LaFleur and company have had a lot of time to sit on that loss and learn from the previous mistakes they’ve made so far this season.

But come Sunday against Denver, it is no doubt a must-win game for the Packers.

The Packers have had a long time to get healthy following the long weeks in between games and also the bye week. The return of Aaron Jones is going to impact the team enormously. Against the Raiders the running game was alive and there is no reason they shouldn’t be handing the ball off a ton to Jones and AJ Dillon against Denver.

The Packers' injuries have slightly improved but are still missing big pieces. De’Vondre Campbell and Jaire Alexander are both unlikely to play on Sunday. The defense has been the main reason for the Packers competing in games this season and these injuries present the opportunity for more guys to step up with Campbell and Jaire absent from the action.

At the end of the day, there are no excuses for the Packers if they lose this game. From coaching to player execution, the Packers have continuously shot themselves in the foot week to week. Matt LaFleur and his staff hopefully have made a ton of corrections and also motivated these guys. There is no reason the energy shouldn’t be high coming into every game, especially with guys like Rasul Douglas, Rashan Gary, and Aaron Jones who bring energy alone themselves.

The Packers need to feed off the negative energy being cast upon them by the media. Nobody thinks anything of them right now, nobody thinks they’re a threat, and nobody is scared to play them. For the first time in a long time, the Packers are underdogs, and they need to start playing gritty like one. Scratching and clawing for wins will not only bring life to this team but also help them grow and bring them even closer together.

Give Aaron Jones the ball, don’t make dumb mistakes, and feed off the negative energy. These are the small keys that will no doubt give the Packers the absolute best shot to win Sunday. This is a young team, they aren’t Super Bowl contenders, but this is a game you need to win to ensure the team is headed in the right direction.

And if they don’t win? Well, we all know the narrative to follow will sound something like this, “Green Bay needs to blow it up.”
