The Packers Have Been Gifted a Get-Right Game Against the Raiders
Are the Packers in for a get-right
game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday night primetime? I sure hope so.
The Packers as a whole in the last three
games haven’t showed much besides a few drives and the fourth quarter against
the Saints. Obviously, this is a young team who has also dealt with a ton of
injuries, but now is the time for the Packers to get right.
The highs have been pretty high, and
the lows definitely have been low in Green Bay early this season. But through
four games and a long break in between this upcoming game, the Packers have a
chance to correct mistakes and finally play a full game of complimentary football.
When looking at the Raiders, they can
be looked at pretty easily as a dysfunctional team. They’ve lost three straight
games, and their head coach Josh McDaniels clearly doesn’t have the players interest
as we can see through comments of frustration made by Josh Jacobs and Davante Adams.
A win against the Raiders would help
set the Packers straight going forward in their upcoming stretch of games
following the bye week against the Broncos, Vikings, Rams, and Steelers. All
games of which the Packers should have a chance to win barring injuries and
setbacks.
They need to win in Vegas first,
they have to. Everyone on the Packers including the coaches got exposed against
Detroit. The injuries definitely played a factor, but the gameplan, mindset,
and physical approach brought to that game was very underwhelming. The matchup against
the Raiders presents an opportunity for the Packers to get back on track as
they head into the bye week.
The Packers offensive line has some adjustments and improvements
to make ahead of this game as well. Nobody knows why offensive coordinator Adam
Stenavich won’t play Yosh Nijman and won’t give him snaps on the field,
especially now since Bakhtiari is officially done for the year. Still, the
level of play needs to step up on the line and the mistakes are correctable.
The Packers should come reenergized on
gameday with the possible return of Jaire Alexander, Aaron Jones, Christian
Watson, and maybe even Elgton Jenkins. They also will probably be without De’Vondre
Campbell.
Overall, the vibe going into this
game should involve an angry Packers team who knows their capabilities and is
going to take all their frustrations out against a Raiders team who has lost
three straight and has no sense of motivation to play for Josh McDaniels.
