Sunday Recap: Packers Drop Another One Against the Vikings
We shouldn’t be surprised by what we
saw on Sunday at Lambeau Field. The Green Packers are just not a great football
team this season. Fingers are being pointed in multiple directions as to the
real issue with this team when in reality, it’s everyone’s fault.
It’s hard to watch a team who doesn’t
even look like they practice during the week. The offensive unit for the
Packers can barely move the football and when they do, it gets called back because
of some dumb mistake that is called for a penalty.
The youth of the Packers was showcased
heavily again on Sunday. It’s almost as if there are infinite mistakes in every
game, from drops to other miscues like holding and running the wrong route. At
this point, I think it is safe to say that this is the worst position a
quarterback could be in on offense. Jordan Love isn’t perfect by any means, but
the help he has gotten has been close to none from his teammates and coaches.
"But this is our team, Packer
fans. We knew that the transition from Aaron Rodgers wouldn't be easy, but you
couldn't even script a season like the one we're witnessing right now. This game
just indicated more of the same and it just sucks to watch.
On a brighter note, former Packers' front office member Andrew Brandt posted a tweet that I believe 'Real Packer Fans Know' is true regarding this season's results so far.

I know it's frustrating, but it's a growing year.
$60 million of dead Cap.
$28 million of injured Cap.
Only one skill player (Aaron Jones) not on a rookie contract.
Most inexpensive offense in NFL.
And a new QB.
Hard to be patient as fans but that's necessary now.
On the defensive side of the ball, you
have to start with the disappointing game from Jaire Alexander. An all-pro last
season who so far this year although he’s been injured, has severely underperformed
to his standard of play. The defense as a whole is a mess, how many first-round
picks can you draft and still underperform? Third and long for almost every
team the Packers face it seems as if it’s a guaranteed first down. It makes no
sense.
Real Packer fans haven’t forgotten,
but here is a friendly reminder and receipt for you Packer fans to carry with you
into the offseason. Matt LaFleur had the choice to get rid of Joe Barry or
bring him back and guess what, he decided to bring him back. As we have seen so
far this season, that decision sucked.
It should be safe to say that the
most frustrating part of watching this team this year is that there are no
signs of growth. The Packers have not gotten better but have also seemed to
have gotten worse in certain spots. A guy like Christian Watson who should be
making a big leap in his second season as the supposed number-one wide
receiver has not shown that he is worth that title at all.
Okay, enough of the negativity.
Some
good news dropped involving the Packers earlier today. Per NFL Network Insider
Ian Rapoport, the Packers have officially agreed to an extension with Rashan
Gary for four more years. This extension is huge for the Packers as Gary is the
cornerstone of the defense and a leader of the team.
The #Packers and star pass-rusher Rashan Gary have agreed to terms on 4-year, $96M extension in new money — $107,532,706 overall — with a signing bonus of $34,636,928. The former first-rounder has recovered nicely from an ACL tear and is one of the league’s most disruptive… pic.twitter.com/MBbzs2aOJC

For the rest of this season, we
should only expect more of the same, unfortunately. Is it too much to ask to
see just a sliver of growth from this young team?
