What Happened to the Lambeau Leap?

It’s already week eleven and the Green Bay Packers have not conducted a single Lambeau Leap this season. This is extremely concerning, the Lambeau Leap is a part of Packer tradition after a touchdown, and not one single Packer has attempted to jump into the stands this year.

Now I know what all of you are thinking, oh the Packers should be worried about scoring on offense instead of celebrating after the fact. Well, here’s the deal buddy, you just don’t understand. The Lambeau Leap is a staple and even though it hasn’t happened as much as we would like it to in recent seasons, the Packers have never gone until week eleven to conduct the iconic jump.

It does make some sense in certain areas that Packer players haven’t elected to do the Lambeau Leap this season. Reason one is the offensive production, but reason number two is probably the biggest considering how young the offensive unit is. Hate Aaron Rodgers all you want, but as a veteran and a leader of the team, he made sure the young guys were aware of how special it is to wear the green and gold.

Maybe if the young guys were more aware of the Lambeau Leap it would boost the offensive production. Jumping into the stands and getting beer poured on you after a touchdown is so sick and could be a nice little motivator for this struggling offense to score more points. Veterans on the team like Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon, and even David Bakhtiari should be getting in the young guys’ ears and telling them how dope the Lambeau Leap truly is.

It’s a fun play and the Packers need to take back ownership of it. Too many other teams have jumped in the stands after scores, including the division rival Lions who mocked the leap by doing after beating the Packers on Thursday Night Football earlier this season.

Make Lambeau Leap awareness a thing! We need to see the leap happen at some point this season sooner or later. If it doesn’t happen, it will be extremely upsetting because that means the tradition is dying, and the only guy who truly embraced being in green and gold every Sunday was Aaron Rodgers who isn’t on the team anymore.
