The Packers Have Officially Hit Rock Bottom

Whelp, the Packers have officially hit rock bottom this season after losing to the Denver Broncos.

This game was frustrating to watch for multiple reasons, and there are so many aspects to point out what really went wrong. Some may say the play calling from Matt LaFleur cost the game, or Jordan Love’s decision-making, but what about the offensive line, and the game plan going into the game? The list of reasons is ongoing, but it’s a collection of all those things that this team has struggled with so far this season.

As real Packer fans, it is time that we face reality, and the reality is, this team is not great. Yes, the expectations were not high going into this season, but as a young and growing team, these are games that you have to win to show that growth. Hand up, I thought maybe this team could be a sleeper and win more games than they were expected to.

But the Packers have not shown any progression so far this season. They have struggled in the first half of every game and the lack of change in preparation each week to counteract that struggle has been completely absent. I’m definitely not a football coach, but it is clearly visible every week you turn on the TV to watch this team that nothing has changed at all.

Through this frustration, it is hard to see a light at the end of the tunnel as a Packer fan this season. But this is a young team, actually one of the youngest in NFL history. The mistakes are going to come from these guys as they play week to week. The Packers may not win a lot of games, but what is important is that we see improvement. That is where the coaching staff must come in and help these young players out. There is no reason for the game plan each week not to cater to the young guys and help get them set on the right path for a game.

LaFleur has a great football mind, but offensively the Packers need to come better prepared for these games. Jordan Love isn’t going to be perfect, and the young receivers aren’t going to be huge playmakers right off the rip. But the improvement needs to start now after hitting rock bottom after losing to two of the worst teams in the NFL.

Not only has the execution of both the players and the coaching staff hurt this team, but the injuries for the Packers have not made things any easier. Aaron Jones hasn’t been fully healthy since week one and De’Vondre Campbell has also missed a lot of time following his high ankle sprain. Following Sunday’s game as well both Darnell Savage and recently returned cornerback Eric Stokes were going to the injured reserve list. The Wednesday injury report today was also a site to be seen.

The Packers have hit their lowest point no doubt, but the only direction from here on out the rest of this season is up for this young team.
