Is Matt LaFleur Soft?
Is Matt LaFleur too soft? I’m beginning
to think so after the start of this season so far.
Don’t get me wrong, LaFleur seems
like a great guy and has won a lot of games as the head coach of the Packers,
but so far this season the play-calling and attitude of the team have become
extremely questionable.
It’s tough to gauge at this point, LaFleur can really scheme
up a game. He comes from that long Shanahan coaching line that has had success
all over the league. But at times he looks like he’s never watched a football
game before when watching some of his play-calls.
LaFleur is definitely a players'
coach, but is he too much of one? The energy of the Packers to start games this
season has been pretty poor, and the play-calls have been very frustrating to
watch. It almost seems as if Lafleur has been more of a friend to the players
than a coach this season.
Fact of fiction, you’d rather go to battle
with Dan Campbell or Matt LaFleur.

That’s an absolute fact, the energy Campbell
brings along with his knowledge and coaching ability is exactly why the Lions
have improved since his head-coaching tenure started.
That fire and motivation is just not
the same with LaFleur. Yes, every coach is different, but still, the Packers
are a young team and there is absolutely no reason the youngest team in the NFL
shouldn’t come out with high energy every week they play a football game.
Also, the press conferences where he
continuously has said after losses that, “We have to figure it out” is complete
nonsense! You’re a coach in the National Football League, you can’t just keep
saying that and not change anything you do as the head coach!
This season isn’t going to show
everything about Lafleur, but it will be a true indicator of what the future in
Green Bay looks like with him as head coach.
Oh, and if you did forget, LaFleur is the guy who brought
back the Packer’s lovely defensive coordinator, Joe Barry.
There is a lot of football left yet
to be played, but boy if LaFleur doesn’t get this team fired up and fix the play-calling
for the rest of this season, Packer fans shouldn’t be afraid to talk about a hypothetical
future without him in Green Bay.
